At Mona Dental for Kids, we provide quality care in a gentle environment. Our approach to caring for children’s teeth is proactive instead of reactive. Many restorative procedures and treatments can be avoided by preventing the damage that leads to the need for fillings or full-coverage crowns.
Fundamental to prevention at our office in Spring, Texas, is the routine dental “checkup.” During these checkups, our dentist, Dr. Mona Houshiar, carefully and thoroughly evaluates the condition of the teeth, gums, and surrounding oral tissues. Dr. Houshiar is checking for damage like tooth decay. The idea is to catch problems before they cause damage or when the damage is detected sufficiently early to reverse it and restore the tooth through conservative means (such as modifications to oral hygiene at home).
Restorations like crowns may be necessary when the damage has progressed to the point where oral care interventions and preventive services like sealants or fluoride therapy would not be adequate to resolve the underlying decay or specific problem. Pulp therapy followed by a crown may be the only way to save a severely decayed or infected tooth.
Our pediatric patients may need to have a tooth restored to its beautiful, healthy function and appearance if it:
Dr. Houshiar uses pre-fabricated crowns to strengthen weakened teeth. These crowns are available in various sizes and can be customized to fit any child’s tooth. Dr. Houshiar will determine the appropriate size and make necessary adjustments to ensure the crown fits properly on the tooth. Once the crown is placed correctly, it will be cemented, giving your child’s previously damaged tooth a fresh start!
