At Mona Dental for Kids, we take pride in creating an environment of trust. Our pediatric patients’ comfort, safety, and experience are supported in everything that we do. Led by Dr. Mona Houshiar, our team knows how to speak with young patients – and enjoys caring for them! Furthermore, we use advanced technologies (such as laser dentistry) and relaxing sedation dentistry (as needed) to maintain or restore the health of our patients’ mouths. This combination of a friendly, knowledgeable team and sophisticated dental tools facilitates gentle, fear-free, painless, and even fun visits to our practice in Spring, Texas.
Gum (or “periodontal”) disease can be prevented with consistent, routine visits. During these regular appointments, our skilled dental hygienists gently remove stubborn bacterial plaque (“tartar” or “calculus”) from the teeth and at the gum line. Tartar cannot be removed with “standard” toothbrushes. This process requires professional care and specialized instruments available at the dentist’s office. Additionally, Dr. Houshiar examines your child’s gums and mouth to detect problems that might otherwise go undetected. Safe, precision digital x-rays may be used to “see” what Dr. Houshiar cannot detect with her eyes alone and to rule out or confirm a diagnosis.
In its earliest stages, gum disease is “silent” or does not produce symptoms. If symptoms are present, they may be subtle and easy to ignore. We encourage patients and their caregivers to watch for potential trouble signs and maintain dental check-ups at intervals as recommended by our dentist. Symptoms may include:
Gum disease is progressive. If not treated promptly, gum disease can threaten the teeth by eroding the tissues that protect, support, and surround them. Advanced gum disease also destroys the supportive bone in the jaw. Fortunately, Mona Dental for Kids can halt periodontal disease’s progressive march through your child’s oral tissues. If detected and treated sufficiently early into the disease process, the effects of gum disease may be reversed! Resolving gum disease may require little more than modifications to oral care at home. Or, more advanced cases of gum disease may require a deeper alternative to the “standard” professional cleaning. Antibiotics may be prescribed to clear bacterial infections. Further, lasers precisely and painlessly treat diseased soft tissues and promote healing.
Do not wait for concerning symptoms to arise. Call (832) 662-3008 to schedule an appointment at Mona Dental for Kids. We are privileged to serve the oral health needs of children in and around Spring, Tomball, Woodland, Champions, and Conroe.
